WELCOME TO THE NEW DDA WEBSITE!

ENTERED 12-1-2013

Hi Everyone,

What another great finish to this years' Girls IHSA season (2013) for the DDA !!

Congats to Sydney Dusel ----- this years' IHSA STATE CHAMPION!!!! Such a beautiful performance!!

Also----congrats to Emily Aument 7th, and Elizabeth Aument 8th, and Sophia Heiser 9th

Kimmy Vitek was 13th - 4 points out of 12th!

Lauren Beyer - has only been diving for 3 months - ended in 16th place - amazing!

Michelle Roth got the monkey off her back and qualified this year with a 42nd place! She will be better next year!

Natalie Williams, like Lauren has 3 months experience and qualified also - finishing 45th! She, too will be better next year!

One of our 2 senior girls, Katy Knight, did a great job and finished 37th! She has committed to UIC!

Shannon Sullivan, our other senior, finished in 27th. She will tell you she was disappointed, just like Kimmy. Both girls were in the top 12 at the Evanston Invite!

We certainly believe they both should belong in the finals of the State meet! However, we always want to look at what we DO in life; not what we don't do!

What is important to know with Shannon is she has been battling a concussion since the summer and only just started working out and competing in mid Oct. This is one amazing young Lady!

Her hard work and dedication is second to none and what she has accomplished since her injury is nothing short of incredible!

I am extremely proud of all our girls! What a wonderful Thanksgiving ---- I am so blessed to have a great assistant in Dave Likar and his family; and a wonderful group of divers and their families in my life!!

Thank you all for enriching my life !!

So, to summarize ----- DDA did this-----1st - 7th - 8th - 11th - 13th - 16th - 27th - 37th - 42nd and 45th

Super!! Since 2004 the DDA has trained--------

5 State champions, 3 second place finishes, and 3 third place finishes; not to mention a healthy group of top 12 and top 20 finishers!!

4 STATE CHAMPIONS in the past 5 years!!!

Be proud of yourselves and your accomplishments and I hope your Thanksgiving was as good as mine!!!

What a wonderful finish to the 2012 Girls High School season.

CONGRATULATIONS to Taylor Kramer for being the 2012 Girls STATE CHAMPION!! She has worked extremely hard over the last 4 years to accomplish this goal. And, she did it without her own HS pool. During her HS seasons she has had to travel to other facilities and practice at odd times of the day.

Nothing would stop her-----she would practice at 8 PM at night or 7 AM on a Sunday morning to reach her goal!

I am so proud of her! And now she joins some of our past DDA Members who are State Champions; like Lauren Mikulecky, Jordan Dyson and Aaron Leech.

Taylor signed with Penn State several weeks ago and is looking forward to diving in college.

Another bright star is Sophia Heiser who finished 7th at the State Meet! This was her first trip, as a sophomore, to the big dance! So, placing in the top 12 on your first trip there is huge! She just missed qualifying last year because of a freak accident, but found redemtion this year. Look for her to be a contender next year!

New sessions for lessons are now up and ready for registration. Because of the high volume of interest, no registrations will be confirmed until receipt of fees. It is first come, first serve.

New club practice calendars, through February, are also posted.

A good number of our high school girls have had a successful season as we head into the Sectional Championships.

Taylor Kramer recently won the Evanston Invite, with Molly, Sophia and Sydney placing in the top 13. This is considered the Mini State meet!

Molly and Sophia went 1-2 at their Varsity conference meet, while Sydney won the Freshman level with a record breaking score! Syd also won the Hindale Central freshman Invite earlier in the month with another record breaking score that will probably be there for decades!

Kelsey and Hunter won their Varsity and JV conference repectively at the UEC, while Meghan was 2nd on JV.

Taylor was 2nd at her Catholic league meet.

Most of these girls will be competing at the same Sectional Championship meet held at Matea Valley HS a week from Saturday at 9 AM. Come see our wonderful Club girls as they try to qualify for this year's State Championships. It will be a great meet!!

Congrats to all our divers who performed well over the weekend! 12-13 girls were awsome, placing 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th!! Special recognition to Sohia for winning the 14-15 event; and She and Kevin and Wyatt all for qualifying for AAU Nationals!! Christy, Emily, Nikki, and Regan are all close! Our 16-18 girls did a great job against a great field and some interesting judging!

Meet info on Regionals and the Windy City Invite are now linked to our schedule. Please review as things are moving fast. Who do I think should definitely be going to Regionals?------see me in practice!

Meet results are on divemeets, you can review them at any time.

Practice schedules and lesson info has been updated for spring and summer!

Good luck to all our divers this weekend at Glenbrook!

As we look ahead for a moment, we have several high school divers who are pre-qualified for AAU Nationals and several who are close to qualifying!

Pre-qualified are Taylor Kramer, Molly schatz, Anna Burns, Sophia Heiser, Meghan Downey and Grace Miller. Elizabeth Aument also qualified in her first meet ever a few weeks ago! Emily Aument, Kevin Sullivan and Wyatt Weaver are very close. Wish them luck this weekend!

Who else do I think can make it right now? Nikki Cast, Christy Hughes, and Sydney Dusel.

We are also looking to start 3 meter workouts soon. We have traveled to UIC in Chicago in the past. Another possibility is Downers Grove North HS. These plans are still in the works and not finalized yet.

That's all for now----the kids are working hard every day and coach Dave and I are very, very pleased with the progess of each and every diver! And very PROUD, I might add!!

Wow! Can't believe it is 2012! I look forward to seeing everyone back at practice today; getting prepared for the Schroeder meet on Sunday.

Meet info for the Feb. GA winter invite is linked to our schedule. Please go in and review that meet. It is not yet up on divemeets, but supposed to be soon. Keep looking for it every so often.

Being prepared for all the local meets is something we should be doing all the time, but it is a good thing to be aware of the bigger meets in the spring and summer months. You can look-up the qualifying standards for AAU Nationals. We already have divers who have pre-qualified with their high school scores. Kramer, Meghan, Molly and Grace for sure are already qualified. Review the standards to see where you fit in........!

We also want to keep our eyes on the Spring USD National series! More info on how this all works as we move along.

Well----the girls High School season went fast but was very successful for our club girls! Meghan downey was our top finisher at 5th place! Taylor Kramer was 6th, Taylor Eggenberger was 7th and Grace Miller was 10th to finish out our top 12 finalists. Molly Schatz was a close 18th!

I'm very proud of all the girls and how they overcame individual struggles to achieve greatness this season! Congratulations girls!!

I'm so excited for this next club season with all the new athletes in our program. We are losing some very talented seniors, but have an AWSOME group of younger divers to fill those shoes!
